The author, Mike Riggs has worked in the crane and rigging industry for over 43 years. He began his career as an Ironworker/rigger. Mikes expertise is formed by the unique perspective of having the real-life experience of working all three sides of the profession. He has rigged in the field, taught others how to rig and has fabricated the gear used to rig loads to cranes. Mike has opened and managed two successful sling fabrication facilities in Massachusetts and Tennessee for I & I Slingmax. Mike has designed, developed, and instructed crane and rigging programs for DOE, Slingmax® Rigging Solutions, and the private industry. He is an affiliate member of ASME, a ASME B30.9 sub-committee member, a past President of the Association of Crane and Rigging Professionals (ACRP) and Rigging Institute, LLC as well as a 2009 recipient of Crane Hotline’s Top Trainer award in the corporate category. Currently, Mike is an owner and vice president of RiggSafe Solutions, Inc. as well as the author of the Complete Rigger’s Reference Handbook and other field aids for the crane and rigging industry. Throughout this handbook, Mike shares his own experiences from the field, classroom instruction and manufacturing years, as well as gathered expertise of others respected and experienced in the crane and rigging industry. This unique combination provides the user with a comprehensive riggers reference handbook and a training experience that cannot be found anywhere else.
